  1. JHS Alumni Reunion will begin promptly at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 2 at the old high school building on Allen Avenue, which is now called Madison Academic Magnet High School. All attendees will be ushered into the auditorium for the opening program upon their arrival at the school. All alumni are encouraged to be there by 1:00 PM so they can stand when their class is called during the roll call of classes. After a brief recognition program, classes will disperse to registration tables throughout the school building. Visiting, touring and refreshments will continue until 5:00 PM.
  1. The dress for the Alumni Reunion will be casual with black and gold attire optional.

Minutes of Feb. 28, 2012 JHS Alumni Reunion Meeting
The Jackson High School Alumni Reunion Committee met on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 5:30 PM at the Lifeline Blood Services new building at 183 Sterling Farms Drive in Jackson.
Committee Chairman, Mimi Roland Allen – JHS Class of 1964, passed out agendas and presided.
Minutes of the Jan. 31 meeting were approved as submitted.
Treasurer’s Report: Bill Haynes, JHS Class of 1957, reported that he had opened a non-interest bearing checking account at The Bank of Jackson with himself and Mimi Allen on the signature card. Deposits made to the account so far are some personal donations and $100 donations from several of the classes giving us a little over $600 so far.  All classes are encouraged to donate $100 of leftover class reunion funds if they can.
 Items discussed are:
Copies were passed out of a spreadsheet prepared by Mary Ann Metts Martin, JHS Class of 1963, which lists three things: 1) where all of the large senior composites are located (Moore Studio, Old Country Story, Old Jackson Junior High Building, at someone’s home or business, etc., and which ones are unaccounted for),  and 2) which 16” x 20” copies of the large composites are at Moore Studio, and 3) which Tatlers are in the school library at Jackson-Central Merry High School.  The JHS Alumni Association has realized that there is no place big enough or willing to hang all of the large composites in one place (58 of them if from 1913-1970), so we have decided that we will work with Mitch Carter to make a 16” x 20” copy of all of the class composites that he does not already have. He has at least 8-10 large composites not framed in the upstairs at Moore Studio that need to be copied, and Mimi is working with him to get the rest of the large composites brought in to have a picture made from them to complete the project. We have set a goal of having all of the 16” x 20” copies of the classes of 1930-1970 produced in time for them to be on display at the June 2 JHS Alumni Reunion, since all of these composites and/or 16” x 20” copies have been located. In order to complete the set from 1913-1929, we need to locate the composite or a copy of the composite for these classes: 1913, 1914, 1917. 1919, 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1928, and 1929. We are appealing to every alumni to help us find these missing composites.
If we are unable to find the missing composites listed above, we could use the senior class pictures in the Tatlers and put them together into a 16” x 20” picture; however, the only Tatler we have access to of the years listed above is the one for 1913. We are also appealing to every alumni to help us find copies of Tatlers for these years: 1914-1929, 1931, 1932, 1944, and 1951.   Any information on the missing composites or Tatlers should be sent to Mimi Roland Allen at mimivoss@yahoo.com or call 731-427-9844.
We are also needing contact information on any living member of the following classes to be sure they know about the reunion: 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1940, 1941 and 1942.
Donations will be solicited from alumni who attend the June 2 JHS Alumni Reunion to help us pay for the additional 16” x 20” copies needed to complete the set and to purchase a metal wall display that looks like a book with pages that swivel in which we can display the 16” x 20” copies. We are committed to finding a place to mount the wall display, hopefully in our old high school building as part of the history of that building, but at least two more locations have been suggested as alternative locations. This will be accomplished right after the June 2 JHS Alumni Reunion if we collect enough money to pay for the project.
Barbara Hinton Farmer, Class of 1961, has talked to the owner of Signs First who is a JHS alumni about making a large 3’ x 8’ vinyl Welcome banner for the reunion. He has agreed to sell it to us basically at his cost. We are going to need quite a few directional and registration signs, so Barbara is going to get a price from Signs First on those too. These signs will be approximately 24” x 30” and will sit on easels throughout the school during the reunion and can be kept and used year after year.
The First Annual JHS Alumni Reunion on June 2 will begin with an Assembly in the Auditorium promptly at 1:00 PM. All alumni will be directed to the Auditorium upon entering the Lobby of the school. The short program will begin with a welcome of teachers attending, followed by a Roll Call of Classes beginning with the Class of 1970 and ending with the oldest alumni present, which should be the 2 who are planning to attend from the Class of 1930. The program will include announcements and the singing of our Alma Mater. Directions to Class specific registration tables throughout the building will begin immediately after the short program in the auditorium.
Saturday night activities after the reunion are the responsibility of each individual class to plan for their own classmates; however, the question has arisen about the possibility of reserving a large gathering place for everyone to go on Saturday night since some classes are not as prolific in planning class gatherings as others. Several committee members said they would be getting together with groups of their classmates in the next few weeks and they would discuss their preference of separate Saturday night gatherings or one large Saturday night gathering.
So far information about the JHS Alumni Reunion has spread by word of mouth, but media publicity will start in March with Cousin Tuny’s article in The City News.  The next meeting of the Alumni Reunion Committee will be on Tuesday, March 27 at 5:30 PM at the same place. Any JHS  alumni who is interested is invited to attend.

Here is more information on the coming Mega Reunion this June 2.
There will be a reunion of all the classes to graduate from Jackson High (1930-1970) this summer on June 2 at the school cafeteria.  (Now Madison Academic)  It is from 1-5 and very informal.  Refreshments will be served. Anyone from our class is welcome to come to a planning session on Jan. 31 at the new Blood Center at 5:30.  She mainly wants to get the word out about the reunion to each class, so would you please send this to those in our class who are on your e-mail list?  She needs help getting the word out to anyone from Jackson during that era because there are too many to send out invitations, so word of mouth is how it will work.  Elizabeth Smith will be 100 this year and is in that 1st graduation class.  Miss Worthy has helped identify folks from the years she was there.  Any help locating folks will be appreciated, I'm sure!

We pray that each of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May GOD's love give you strength to face this coming year.

Monday December 5th, 2011
Here is some information sent to me about the new JHS Alumni.

Jackson High School
Class of 1963

Mark your calendars for the afternoon of June 2, 2012 at our old JHS campus (now called Madison Academic High School at 200 Allen St). This will be an annual event.
This is the same date as the Class of 1962 Reunion which will be that evening.
Below is an email from Mimi Roland Allen who is in charge of the afternoon event:
Everyone who ever graduated from Jackson High School is invited, however we know that not a lot will travel from long distances to come for the afternoon event.  There will be some people who come every year and different people who will come occasionally, some will come maybe once and some will not ever come.
We wanted to get this started while there are members of the first graduating class of 1930 still living and able to attend.  We know of 2 who will be 100 next year that are still active.

Any Class can plan a gettogether for their own members on that Saturday night which might entice some to come to the Alumni event who would otherwise not come, but that would be up to each separate Class to plan.

Thanks to everyone that attended the JHS 60th Birthday Bash. What fun we had and it was great to see so many friends again. If we have to turn 60 then this was the way to do it. But there were some of us, who are not 60 just yet.....LOL.
Jimmy Dickey was our Master of Ceremony, Greg Spann said our prayers at both events. We paused for a moment of silence to honor Libboo Riddler and Rhea Dabney. We lost both classmates this year.
Ms Worthy and Ms Pat Little were our Guests of Honor at the Brunch. It was wonderful seeing them again. Sammy Mingledorff brought an old movie clip of one of the JHS Football games. The guys really enjoyed watching how young and fast they use to be. LOL
At the dinner, each table had either a Birthday Cake or Birthday Cupcakes and as one of our Special Entertainments - Cousin Tuny sang "Happy Birthday" to us as we blew out all the candles. She then gave a short and wonderful performance for us. She is still going strong and we were so blessed to have her join us for all the fun. She even got out on the dance floor and danced, an amazing woman. Our next Special Performance was by the "Blues Brothers" another fantastic show. They were great! ! !
Our Costume winners were: Dickey Glisson 1st Place and Jimmy Dickey 2nd Place for the men. Mary Jo Middlebrooks 1st Place and Ann McBride McDaniel 2nd Place for the women. All winners received gift cards.
We have added pictures of both events to the Photo Albums, please take a minute to check them out. If you have photos from the Brunch or Dinner, please submit them on this website so that we can share them with others.
Well, Peace and Love until the next event and Happy 60th Birthday Class of 1969 ! ! ! ! !

Peace and Love Class of 1969
Plans are underway for a  “60th Birthday Bash” to be held at Miss Ollie’s in Jackson, TN on Saturday October 15th, 2011.  This will be a Costume Party, come dressed as a 1960’s person. Right now we are thinking  about starting around 11:00 am and ending up around 10:00 pm. This way those that want to come during the day to have lunch and sit around talking can do so and others can come later for a little music and dinner and a “Surprise” entertainment.  Or you can do both.  Come and go as you please.  We know at the 40th Reunion we didn’t have a lot of time for just talking and catching up with each other.  So this time we will.

We need to know who is interested in coming by April 25th, 2011, so that we can determine what the cost per person will be. Spouses can come too.

We will be putting announcements, praises and prayer requests in this section of our website. If you have any requests please email me at: fohl@str.com

How amazing is GOD ! ! !   Allie was released from the hospital today. She will continually be under Vanderbilt Children's Hospital's care. They  perdict a normal healthy life for Allie. She will continue to be on blood pressure medicine for about 6 months. What a little trooper she is... an angel from GOD.  Thanks to all of you who sent up prayers on her behalf. Prayers were answered
.

Friday January 6th, 2012
Please be in prayer for my new little grandbaby, Allie. She has had to have emergency open heart surgery. The doctors are calling her a "miracle" baby because they are amazed that she was still alive with her condition at 23 days old. GOD has blessed my family that this little angel is still with us. I am giving GOD all the praise and Glory.....

Wednesday Sept 21st, 2011
This was sent to me to update everyone on Rhea Dabney's condition.  Please be in prayer for Rhea and his family.

Hello friends of Marsha & Rhea.  I am writing tonight with news that is very difficult for me to share.   I just hung up the phone with Marsha.  She was thankful for the beautiful weather today.  Rhea also had the peg-line successfully inserted today which will allow nutrients and medications to be given without an IV.   Rhea also had a CT Scan today.   The CT scan revealed that there is cancer present in both lungs.   The CT scan was compared to the scan done in August and the doctors say this cancer is very, very aggressive.   They are predicting that Rhea only has about two weeks to live.
Radiation will continue because it is reducing the pain in the tumor sites a great deal.  Marsha does not feel that Rhea is experiencing much pain - and she and the family would like for Rhea to be as pain-free as possible in the coming weeks.   Emily and William are here in Jackson.  Emily's husband, Paul, came today and Lauren (William's wife) drove up today also from Mississippi.
Marsha says they need nothing but prayer.  Please pray for wisdom, courage, strength, energy and comfort for Marsha, the children and Sally, Rhea's mother.   I don't know what more to say, I will continue to let all of you know what I know.   I do want you to know that Marsha has asked me to share this with each of you - as she needs all of us now to keep her lifted before the Lord.   Rhea has been sedated most of today for the surgery and CT scan and is not yet aware of this information.

Also we just received this prayer request:

Connie Ballard Duncan shared the following with Pat Newbill Geelan,  for us to post on the JHS Class of 69 website.  They certainly welcome and need our prayers.

Connie Ballard Duncan will not be able to join us for the Birthday Bash.  Her husband Larry is undergoing treatment for Stage IVA Esophageal Cancer. He is through with rad/chemo treatments. Latest test showed NO esp. cancer but 2 spots on lung and one under right clavical.
Had a recent PET Scan completed for the doctors to re-evaluate for any other cancer "hot spots".
Sometime in Oct. he will have surgery to remove stent, rebuild esophagus, remove part of one lung and no telling what else. Dont know if he will have to have more rad/chemo at this time. "We're just taking it one day at a time.

I will be with you all in thoughts and spirit all day n night. Have fun!!!"

Connie also posted this on Facebook this week:
"Larry's tests look promising. Esophageal Cancer reduced enough to operate to remove and rebuild. Two spots on lower right lung will have to be resected. Not sure if that can be done and if so will it be one ot two sugeries???"

It was Mr. Driver's passion to keep the memories of railroad yesteryears alive in the minds and hearts of everyone he encountered. In 1983, he produced the first of many railroad calendars which included pictures of famous railroad men, train wrecks, and railroad presidents. It was Mr. Driver's vision to have the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Depot, located on South Royal and built in 1888, renovated and restored to preserve the legacy of the railroad for future generations. Mr. Driver was instrumental in starting the GM&O Historical Society in Missouri and contributed railroad memorabilia for display. Mr. Driver loved the railroad and his hometown of Jackson. As a noted historian, his collection of historical pictures can be viewed at many locations including City Hall, Madison County Courthouse, Jackson City Library, and the Casey Jones Museum. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Driver served in the Navy with the SeaBees, the construction battalion. Mr. Driver was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson and was baptized in 1929. He served as President of the Bill Baxter Bible Class for 25 years. Mr. Driver is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 67 years, Mary King Driver whom he married on December 3, 1943; two daughters, Susan White (Joe) and Gayle Tacker-Gilbert (Rusty) both of Jackson; five grandchildren, Angela Kelley (Dustin) of Murfreesboro, TN, Meredith Gooch (Clay) of Plano, TX, Jason Tacker (Krystle) of Cordova, TN, Captain Cory Gilbert (Susanna) of Japan and 1st Lieutenant Brett Gilbert (Amanda) of Ft. Friday October 21, 2011

What a time we had at the JHS 60th Birthday Brunch and Dinner. If you were not able to make it, you missed out on a lot of fun and fellowship with all our classmates. Jimmy Dickey was our Master of Ceremony - Greg Spann said our prayer for us at both events. Greg also surprised everyone by driving the same jeep that he had in High School. Yes, it still runs and looked Great!  We were blessed to have Ms Worth and Ms Pat Little joining us as our Guests of Honor at the Brunch.

We had quite a few that dressed up in their "60's" clothes Our winners of the Costume Contest were:  Dickey Glisson 1st place and Jimmy Dickey second place for the men.  Mary Jo Middlebrooks 1st place and Ann McBride McDaniel 2nd place for the women. All received gift cards to local restaurants. Each table was set with either a Birthday Cake or Birthday Cupcakes, as Cousin Tuny sang Happy Birthday we all lite the candles and then blew them out. Cousin Tuny then performed for us. She was amazing and everyone throughly enjoyed it.  Our next Special Guests were the Blues Brothers - they were fantastic ! ! ! !   Our band for the festivites was the Bluesberry Jam Band. Norma did a great job of finding them for us.  All in all we had a wonderful time and can't wait until the next event to visit with each other again.   Happy 60th Birthday - Class of 1969

Thursday October 20, 2011

If you were not able to make the Big JHS "60th" Birthday Bash then you really missed out on a lot of fun. The day started with a Brunch at Coyote Blues. Greg Spann and his wife, Frances, drove up in the same Jeep that he had while he was in high school. It looked GREAT. There were several that came to the Brunch but could not stay for the Dinner. Food was great but the fellowship was the best. We had a lot of time to just sit back and talk to each other.  We were entertained by an old video clip of one of the JHS Football Games provided by Sammy Mingledorff. What fun it was to watch the team in Action again. Ms Worthy also joined us at the Brunch. It was awesome seeing her again.
At the Dinner, we had 2 "Special" Entertainments lined up for everyone. First, each table had their very own Birthday Cake or Cupcakes, we all lite the candles and Cousin Tuny sang "Happy Birthday" to us. She then had a special performance for all of her "Little Cousins". What fun that was. So great to see her again and let me tell you, she is still going strong.  After her performance the Blues Brothers Jam Band began playing. Norma did a great job on picking out the band for us.  Our next "Special" Entertainment was none other than the "Blues Brothers" themselves.  What a GREAT act they have.  We all throughly enjoyed their performance. Great fun, great food and best of all - GREAT classmates......

Here is the latest information from Mimi on the JHS Megan Reunion June 2, 2012:

So far information about the JHS Alumni Reunion has spread by word of mouth, but media publicity will start in March with Cousin Tuny’s article in The City News, followed by an article in April by Lyda Kay Feree, Class of 1963, in the VIP Magazine, and an article in The Jackson Sun by Jacque Hillman and announcements by Bill Way on his radio show.
The next meeting of the Alumni Reunion Committee will be on Tuesday, March 27 at 5:30 PM at the same place. Any JHS  alumni who is interested is invited to attend.

Friday, January 20, 2012
